The purpose of this policy is to explain how Auto Finance Direct Ltd (“AFD”, “we” or “us”) gathers, uses and processes your personal information.  AFD takes your privacy seriously and handles your personal information in accordance with all applicable laws, including the Privacy Act 2020.

Information AFD collects

We collect personal information that you provide to us directly, including through our website or by submitting an application form, or by contacting us (by email or otherwise). We may also collect information automatically using cookies or other web measurements tools as you use our website or online portals and forms.

Where you are applying for a loan, we may also collect your personal information from the motor vehicle dealer you are dealing with, credit reporters, your employers, other credit providers, government departments and your relatives.

The personal information we collect from you will vary depend on the nature of our interactions with you, but may include:

  • your name, email address and other contact details;
  • if you are applying for a loan, your credit information which may include your date of birth, address, occupation, employer and driver licence details;
  • a record of how you use our website or online portals and forms; and
  • a record of your communications with AFD.

  • to respond to any queries you make, manage our relationship with you, and exercising our rights under our contracts with you; and
  • to comply with any applicable laws and/or regulations.  

If you do not provide us with your personal information, then we may not be able to provide our services to you. 

Sharing your personal information

AFD will hold all personal information securely.  AFD may disclose your personal information to:

  • our service providers;
  • our partners and related companies;
  • if a motor vehicle dealer has provided us with personal information on your behalf, that motor vehicle dealer;
  • agents, contractors and credit reporters, for the purpose of obtaining a credit report about you;
  • repossession agencies and external debt collection agencies, in the event you default on your financial obligations to us; and
  • any other third parties where you have consented to such disclosure or if we are required to disclose your personal information by law or court order.

Otherwise, personal information will not be shared, sold or disclosed to any other individual or company unless AFD is compelled to by law or it is deemed absolutely necessary to do so to provide the product or service requested by the individual.

Personal information will be held for as long as services are being provided or for as long as is lawfully necessary.
